Hector
Lee SSM. I’m still going to give him that full title because,
despite renouncing SSM for personal reasons a few years before his death,
Hector was always proud to be a part of the Society of the Sacred Mission
throughout his life. The brethren with whom he shared his experiences
became as close to him as - and sometimes closer than – his own
family, and it is the aim of this website to serve as a lasting tribute
to a truly great and loving man, and a committed Christian and monk.
Hector was my uncle, but more than that he was my great friend. We spent countless hours walking up hill and down dale, across town and country terrain, lost in our endless chatter, sometimes having a deep and meaningful discussion about theology or the universe, others simply engaging in camp and frivolous banter. Always the time was special; indeed some of these occasions are among my happiest memories. But this website is for everyone who knew Heccy. It doesn’t matter if it was a brief encounter, or if he touched your life in some deeper, more profound way. Please do send in your memories of him and share them with the rest of his friends and family, from whichever corner of this tiny planet you may hail. Keep checking the site as this is just a beginning – many more pictures and articles will be added throughout the coming months and years, and hopefully much of that will come from you. So please, do email or write to us in your droves, and help me create a permanent homage to a remarkable man. Nigel R Burton email us at yourmemories@hectorlee.co.uk to be part of this lasting tribute. Alternatively, send your memories
